Let’s write your story together
Thoughtful and Inspiring Online Writing Courses with Award-Winning Author Huma Qureshi
Hello, I’m Huma Qureshi
I’m the award-winning author of four books, including the critically acclaimed novel, Playing Games; How We Met: A Memoir of Love and Other Misadventures and the short story collection Things We Do Not Tell The People We Love.
I’m also a former national newspaper journalist and I’ve taught writing courses with institutions such as The Arvon Foundation, Guardian Masterclasses and CBC Creative.
Writing is all I’ve ever done and all I’ve ever known. I love the craft, but I’ve also experienced my fair share of writer’s block. My courses are the cure I created to help me fall back in love with words again. Wherever you are on your personal writing journey, it would be my honour to help you do the same.
Find Your Voice, Write Your Truth
Your writing beats like your heart. It comes alive off the page. People feel your words. They understand you. And with that understanding comes the richness of a story shared.
Writing helps us step outside the noise, bringing clarity and calm. It allows us to connect with our creativity. When we invite others to read our work, we build connections with them too. I want to show you how to unlock this clarity, creativity and connection because it feels truly magical when you do.
My writing courses are designed to open your heart and mind and let the words flow. They are my love letters to the beauty of words, and the power of storytelling. Whether you aspire to enter short story competitions, write a book or simply find a way to write whatever’s on your heart, either for a blog or in a journal for your eyes only, these courses will inspire you to grow and flourish as the writer you already are.

What my students are saying
‘I just wanted to say thank you for your course. I write for a living but this course has inspired me to write with a different perspective and one that has inspired me so much, I’ve fallen back in love with writing again. Thank you. ’
— Faye
‘Taking your writing course was the best decision of my life. Your course was lovely, light and a wonderful way to ease into writing. I’ve always been afraid to pursue writing and believe I can really do it. I’ve been plagued with self doubt and fear of vulnerability but your course gave me the courage to just do it, so thank you.’
— Laura
‘This is the most intimate writing course I have ever taken. I feel so held and you have been so generous with what you know.’
— Saddal
‘Thank you so much for your writing course. I have enjoyed it so much that I am going to repeat it! As a former journalist I was trained to keep emotion out of my work and deal only with facts. You have given me permission to explore feeling in my work. Quite a revelation.’
— Anne
‘I have been taking your course, and I really enjoyed it. I am a songwriter, and I hadn’t written a new song in six months. Since starting your course, I’ve written three new songs. Thank you.’
— Anne S
‘I love how you teach, like a friend standing behind me at my writing desk with an encouraging hand on my shoulder.’
— Sophie
Alicia, former student of both The Quiet Words and Miniature Worlds
‘Your courses and words always bring me back to the reason I love to write so very much.’
Designed To Inspire
Before I was published, I took lots of writing courses but often felt shy and self-conscious. I didn’t enjoy responding to writing prompts that felt unnatural, filling in spreadsheets and sharing my work with people I didn’t know.
When I started designing my own courses, I knew I wanted them to be different. I wanted them to be non-prescriptive, playful, curious and inspiring. Above all, I wanted to remind people that writing is first and foremost a pleasurable pursuit.
