A reading, for you

A gift to say thank you for being a reader of Dear Huma and Twenty Things I’ve Loved Lately!

I really hope you enjoy this recording of an extract from my short story The Wishes, which appears in my collection, Things We Do Not Tell The People We Love.

Thank you for being here.

Hi, I’m Huma Qureshi. Welcome!

I’m an award-winning author of four books, and I am passionate about writing and teaching writing in an inspiring, non-formulaic way.

My most recent books Things We Do Not Tell The People We Love and How We Met: A Memoir of Love and Other Misadventures were both published to critical acclaim in 2021. You can read about the awards I’ve won and been nominated for here.

I’ve been teaching writing courses and mentoring writers for seven years. I have also worked with institutions such as The Arvon Foundation, Guardian Masterclasses and CBC Creative.

When I designed my own writing courses, I knew I wanted them to be different: to be non-formulaic, playful, curious and inspiring, inviting you to spend time off the screen and away from your desks, because so much of writing takes place before we even get there. Above all, I want my courses to remind anyone and everyone who wants to write that writing is first and foremost a pleasurable pursuit.
